Pre-Fast and Post Fast Instructions
For best results, before joining our detox program practice the following Pre-Detox Program for atleast a week. This will prepare your body for a more comfortable and a deeper cleansing.
If you follow these suggestions, the chance that you will be sluggish, or have headaches and nausea during your cleanse, could be lessened. This same protocol should be used after your fast. Breaking the fast is critical and should be done very slowly, eating mostly just fruit, steamed or raw leafy vegetables and Green Smoothies for the first few days and beyond. Remember that eating LESS IS BEST!!!
Here is an Honest Food Guide which can be printed and put up on your refrigerator. Enjoy.
- For optimum results in the pre-cleansing phase, eat no meat, dairy products, salt, sugar or foods with added sugar. Honey, organic maple syrup, stevia and date sugar sweeteners are acceptable.
- Get into the habit of reading labels - this will help you know what you are actually consuming.
- Eat no fried food. When you do use oil, use cold-pressed organic olive oil, or flax seed oil. Note: Flax seed oil (and the seed meal) is very sensitive to going rancid. It is better to never cook with or to heat flax seed oil. Keep in the refrigerator and use quickly. Grapeseed oil is also good.
- Wild fish, broiled or baked, with steamed veggies and a salad; brown rice and beans, bean soup with a slice of whole grain bread, yogurt and fruit for breakfast, veggie burgers made from sunflower seeds and veggies, eggs in a omelet with lots of spinach....just some ideas.
- Eat as many raw fruits and vegetables as your body can handle (60% raw and 40% cooked is a good guideline for most people). If your digestion is very weak, you may need to eat some steamed or baked vegetables and take some digestive enzymes as a supplement.
- Drink 1 raw, organic vegetable based juice a day while pre cleansing; you may drink as much as you like.
- Learn about Green Smoothies.
- Drink water as often as possible, but not with a meal. Water is a critical addition to the cleansing process. On a hot day it is best to drink about 6% of your body weight (i.e. 70 kg body weight, drink 4.2 liters of water). On a cool day drink half of this. This only applies to water and does not include other drinks such as tea, coffee or fruit juice.
- Limit snacks to fruits, vegetable juices, and mineral broths made from vegetables.
- Eating less food will be the goal after the fast, so beginning to do that now, will make it easier on your body and on your mind.
