It is the major site of the so-called Teuchitlan tradition, a complex society that existed from as early as 300 BCE until perhaps 900 CE.

water yogaTestimonial:

Jill is a great teacher and now a new friend. She took great care of us, especially during that rough second day and she was the perfect tour guide in setting up transportation.  Our driver Misael was excellant.   The juices we had were delicious and have inspired us to purchase a juicer.  Amatlan de Canas, where the fast took place is a wonderful location inhabited by beautiful loving people.

Lucy & Alfonso were the best hosts and we want to visit Los Pavorreales again.  We sampled the local goods and learned not only about local history, but also many good fruits and vegetables to eat.  We watched informative videos, did water yoga and all had wonderful massages and facials.  The mud bath was just too much fun and really left our skin tingling and smooth!  Having the daily trip to the hot pools made this the ultimate vacation and healing retreat that our bodies were craving for.  Thanks again to Jill, Lucy, Alfonso, Gelo, Marsiella,  Misael, Baldo, Samuel the postada cowboy, the woman in the feed store selling tostada presses, and googhie & bernardo and all the people of Amatlan de Canas.  From Carol &  ken Duerig 3/19/09. - This is us in this water yoga picture.
